
Professor Dr. Brigitte Petersen has been a founding member and honorary chair of the board of the European cooperative EQAsce (Education and Qualification Alliance) since June 2015. From 1985 to 2020, she held the Chair of Preventive Health Management at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. The focus of her research, teaching and networking is quality management in value chains in the agricultural and food industry. As coordinator of numerous national and international collaborative projects in this field, she was the chair of the board of the International FoodNetCenter of the University of Bonn until 2020. Here she was spokesperson of the interdisciplinary focus group One Health. She is a founding member and chair of the supervisory board of the international research platform GIQS e.V. and coordinator for the digital educational credentials initiative on the board of the Bonn.realis e.V. cluster.

In teaching, she offers the elective course „Models of Integrated Crisis, Risk and Quality Management in Value Chains of the Agricultural and Food Industry“ each winter semester at the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Excellence in Bonn. This offer is for students of agricultural sciences, human nutrition, food technology and veterinary medicine. She is an expert reviewer for project sponsors, accreditation organizations, foundations and universities. She is involved in decision-making committees for project and program evaluations and appointment procedures at home and abroad.
